From Death to Resurrection by Alison PH Barnett
Taken from the Foreword:
Building upon Alison's first book, "From Despair to Hope: A Biblical Approach to Trauma", I am delighted to support and endorse Alison's second book in this series, "From Death to Resurrection: How God Heals Trauma".
Coming from both a Jewish and Messianic context, Alison delves deeply into well-known and loved Bible characters through the lens of trauma, i.e., Ruth, Elijah, Abraham, Moses, Sarah, Jeremiah, Mary, etc. She unpacks the characters and their experiences, not as naturally triumphant Bible heroes, but as victims, survivors, and overcomers of trauma.
Yes, they were triumphant through their faith in a God who heals and restores, in the face of often extremely traumatic life events.
If ever there was a traumatic time in history, it is now! Our exposure to moment-by-moment media enables us to not only experience our own trauma but trauma on a global level immediately. We cannot know to what extent this is affecting and compounding the sense of trauma upon our psyche and overall sense of well-being.
For those of us living in or connected to the massacre of October 7th, in Israel, surely a whole nation was instantly traumatized - and retraumatized, after a national history of war upon war. and an ongoing long history of trauma. Alison wrote this book in the framework of the war resulting from the events of October 7th, and what she was living in real time, both personally and as a trauma counselor. As a fellow woman in ministry in Jerusalem, just living through this day-to-day was utterly overwhelming and exhausting,
let alone trying to help others to get through their feelings and experiences. This is an impossible task, humanly speaking; rather, it is a divine calling. And we learn in the pages
of this book. it is naturally supernatural to experience healing, restoration, and redemption from our Awesome God!!
