Beware of the MIMICS...

MIMICS is a sci-fi tale, an page-turning adventure and a spiritual journey. Set in the future it tells of a world where an unknown force is compromising human lives and using the adult population as vessels to not only host and control our bodies, but also take over the minds of the human race for their own means and ideals. The young people of the Earth have a temporary immunity to this, so are kept in work camps until they are ready to use as vessels when they reach maturity. Religions and belief systems are under threat as a new path "Enlightenment" seems ready to take over. But there is a resistance as some are not yet ready to surrender their beliefs - even if it means their very lives are under threat. Gideon is one of the young heroes of this story who hears the message that "Trenchard" is the way to freedom, and he and his friends become part of a plan that starts with a escape from the work camp they have been prisoners at since childhood - and begins a journey that takes them beyond Earth and towards a great destiny. I have kept this review a little vague as I don't want to reveal too many plot details, but this is a very enjoyable and thought-provoking tale by Brendan Conboy. There is definitely potential for a sequel here, but the story also works on its own. I did spot a few typing errors in the book but this did not take away from the story. I've already ordered more books from this author and am looking forward to reading more. And I wouldn't say no to a MIMICS follow up...
